Billing

Payment methods

Where card details live, how to change them, and why we never see them.

2 minute read

Card details are held by the payment provider, never by us. We store an identifier for your customer record there and nothing else, which is why every change happens in their portal rather than in a form here.

Changing a card

Billing page → Customer portal. That opens the provider's own hosted portal, where you can add or replace a card, change the billing address, and see the invoices they hold. Changes take effect immediately and the next charge uses the new method.

The portal is available once you have made a payment; before that there is no customer record to manage.

Who can do it

Anybody whose role includes managing billing: owners, admins and the billing role. Other members cannot see the billing page at all.

When a card is about to expire

Providers usually email you, and many update card numbers automatically through their network when a bank reissues a card. If a renewal does fail, nothing dramatic happens right away; see When a payment fails.

Paying by invoice

Some deployments can bill an organisation by invoice rather than by card. That is arranged with the people running the service rather than configured here; use the contact form.
