Notifications and email

Choosing what reaches you, and how often.

2 minute read

Settings → Notifications. Notifications come in two channels, and you control them separately.

In the app

The bell in the header shows unread items. Every notification type can be turned off individually: workspace invitations, new members, membership changes, billing, API keys, security alerts and account activity.

Security alerts are worth leaving on. They are how you find out about a password reset or a sign-in from a new device that you did not do.

By email

Three modes, applied to everything:

  • Immediate: an email as things happen.
  • Daily digest: one email each morning with everything from the previous day. Good if invitations and member changes are frequent.
  • Off: no notification email at all.

Turning email off also stops onboarding and re-engagement sequences, so it really does mean off.

Unsubscribing from an email

Every notification email carries an unsubscribe link that turns off that type without signing in, and a link to your full preferences. Using the unsubscribe link affects that one type; it does not silence security alerts, which are sent regardless of preference on the grounds that you need them.

Transactional email

Some email is not a notification and cannot be turned off: verifying your address, resetting your password, sign-in links, invoices and receipts, and messages about your subscription or account deletion. Those exist because you asked for something or because your account state changed.
