Billing
Invoices and receipts
Where to find your paperwork, and the difference between our receipt and the tax invoice.
2 minute read
Every payment appears on the billing page under Invoices and receipts, with its date, description, amount and a downloadable receipt.
The receipt
Receipt (PDF) gives you a one-page document with a sequential receipt number, the seller and buyer details, the line item, the total and the payment reference. It is meant for your records and for expense claims.
A refund keeps the same receipt number and renders as a refund receipt, so your numbering never has gaps.
The tax invoice
This is the part worth reading carefully, because it depends on how the deployment takes payments.
- If payments are handled by a merchant of record such as Polar, Creem, Paddle or Lemon Squeezy, that company sold you the product and issues the legal tax invoice. Our receipt says so and links to their document where we have the link. For a VAT reclaim, use theirs.
- If payments are handled directly through Stripe, the company running this deployment is the merchant. In that case the receipt shows the tax total from the Stripe invoice, and Stripe's own hosted invoice and PDF are linked next to it.
Getting an address or tax number on the document
Seller details come from the deployment's configuration. Buyer details are your workspace name and its billing email; changing the workspace name changes what future receipts say. To add a VAT number or a company address to the invoice itself, set them in the payment provider's customer portal, which the Customer portal button on the billing page opens.
Who can see them
Anybody whose role includes reading billing. The receipt endpoint checks that the payment belongs to your active workspace, so a link cannot be shared outside it.
